Ok here ya go.. On a short three day vaca in Vegas this week then back to fish Thurs and Fri then off again for the weekend..so like always I'm gonna give it up real good smile

Just get out and fish!! It's as good as it gets on Texoma right now. If you can't find birds working then you need Better glasses or better binoculars. There are more birds on the lake than I have ever seen in the last 15 years and they are working hard on bigs schools of fish everyday ...
Time of day does not matter in fact I've done a few afternoon trips and they might have been even better tan the mornings.

If it's action you want catching 100+ box fish is as easy as getting on the water..the are more 13-16 inch box fish than I have ever seen as well. My action trips have been producing literally 100+ fish a day in a very short time.
Ive been doing a mix of bait trips and lure trips and both producing tons of fish.
Shad have been easy most days out in the middle of the river channels down about 15-20 feet deep. I'm still getting the, real early in the morning but you should be able to get them a little closer to daylight as well.
Yesterday was the first day I fished in deep water 50+ feet. Finding schools of fish 30 feet thick is easy but those deep water fish are moving pretty fast.
Fish on the flats in 20-30 feet I can get to stay with me for hours.
Technique; hook bait..drop bait down ....set hook. It's that easy.

Lure trips are pretty easy too. Ive been throwing mostly swim baits ,like cohos and sassy Shad I get from Moe's tackle but slabs areworking great as well

It's a little to get the fish to come to ya with lures but they will..

As for bigger fish ,we have been getting a good. Number of fish in the 4-8 lb range working steep structure. Big fish are coming up shallow early into less than 5 feet of water then going a bit deeper as the sun gets up.

As for specific spots...that's kinda hard cuz fish are seriously active everywhere on the
lake.
I have been spending most of my time from highport marina east to washita point..lost of deep structure the as well as many good flats..different from earlier in the year when there were just a couplE spots holding fish..it is very difficult to not find birds anywhere on the lake..I have been driving over the dam a bunch the last few days and there is even a huge flock of birds working down the every time I cross it.. About the only place I can't verify fish is west of hwy 377 and north of hwy 70. Everywhere else on the lake is just burning up with fish and birds leading the way..

Get out the and get ya some..lures or bait doesn't matter!

Dang, wish I had time to get up to Texoma! I don't even have time to get Tawakoni right now! Miss fishing! But I love hunting too. I need to quit my job and just fish and hunt! Well, hope all is well with you JD.

Thanks for the report JD. Finally taking off from both jobs for a few days & heading up there Thursday for the first time since April. Wouldn't you know it I plan the trip during a full moon & post cold front. Both always kick my butt when it comes to fishing. Hopefully the fishing stays good after the front. Oh & hope the wind allows us to get where we need to be. Heard it's supposed to start cranking Friday & Saturday. Anyways, it's just going to be nice being off work & on the lake. Can't wait! Thanks again & good luck in Vegas!

How is the situation with the algae? Can you get in water or have it on you?

The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

I took my group of students up there 2 weeks ago and caught bait with JD, got me and my son wet with lake water. Caught a ton of fish and washed my hands in the lake every time.......My fingers DID NOT FALL OFF. I did not even see any blooms on the water. Looks and feels fine to me.

You are telling the truth man. I took my son out last weekend for a couple of hours in the Buncombe and Mill Creek area and wore them out. Mostly 16 to 18 inchers but a lot of fun for us. We were out from about 1 pm to 4pm. Birds worked pretty good until the wind blew us and them off. My son was using his favorite Ole Ugly and I used a bigger slab of the Do it variety. Both were effective. The interesting thing was that my son was catching the bigger fish with the smaller slab.

According to the Corps facebook website, testing for the presence of blue green algae on Texoma has been completed and they are waiting for the results. Will post on their facebook website http://www.facebook.com/usacetulsa?sk=wall as soon as the results are known.
