This next week I am going to buy a boat. I have found two that interest me.
They are both 17' center consoles with the Mercury Force 90. Both are near the same price.
What one is the better boat I am basically asking

Obviously they are both used.
New, the proline would have been the superior boat, but..time and use could certainly have changed that.
Bring a compression tester and a rubber mallet, use both. Use the mallet to tap around the hull, transom and decks, you don't want to hear a dead sound, that's water intrusion or a delaminated hull.
After that, by all means take the sled to the lake, if the owner balks, walk.

i think proline started building a no wood boat about 1995 give or take a year.bayliner has a bad rap about there boats the floors rot out very fast the trophy series boat my or my not have wood?it would be worth checking out if you plan to keep the boat a long time.wood covered with fiberglass is still wood.

The Trophy will have a wooden transom. The Pro Line is the better boat by far.
The Problems we have seen from Trophy's are the transoms. Most just have an aluminum trim plate covering the transom. If you take that trim off, you will see the top side of the transom, left exposed. So they tend to really absorb the water in that area, leading to rot.
