I have a 79 merc 90 hp inline 6, when I am running at wot, it will lose power and fall on its face. if I don't go to full throttle it will run all day with no problem. The ignition system is new, the timing is correct. the only thing I did notice is that after it loses power the primer bulb is almost empty (soft).
Any ideas??

The worst times fishing are still better than the best time thinking about it.

might either be the bulb or your pump, might check them out

I would run it on a 6 gallon test tank and see what happens,if it runs good then the problem is in the fuel line or vent in the tank or a restriction in the pickup tube or the check valve.Has the fuel pump been rebuilt,if it hasnt then it needs to be,if it still has the rubber check valves it needs the mylar check valves installed.

Check and see if you don't have an air leak on the tubeing near the primer bulb. A small pin hole will cause this to happen.

The diafram [sp] could have a pin hole in it. Or your stater could be grounding out.
