I had my lower unit replaced and prop refinished a few months back, and ever since I have trouble getting on PAD. Also Once I start to get up my RPMs shoot up and I cant get any traction with the prop. but then It gets grip and I am fine.

I have a 225 efi With a 27pitch trophy plus, I used to be able to run 69 with 2 poeple, now I have trouble getting over 60????

Could my jack plate have moved when I tore up my last lower unit?

Did they mess my prop up when they machined it?

Thanks

Jack plate could have been moved. Mark a line on it were it meets the mount as a guide and you will always know where it was. Sounds to me like it may need to come down if your blowing out on take off.....

Too many factors could be at work. But a 27p is probably at the top end of props for a 225. But then again I don't know how big a boat your pushing or anything else.

Better yet call Steve at Steves custom props. He will get you fixed up. I still think it's the jack plate.

think the 27 might just be too much prop for it, I run a 250 yammi on a 22ft triton, still turns 6500 and great speed, but a 27 is a little too much prop for it, i think if you call someplace like the boat center in flint, 903825-2293 there mech can fix your questions right up. Good guys with great service

Do you have an E-Tech. If so did they put an L2 or a Magnum lower unit back on it. If they switched lower units they have different gearing.

Generally when someone says the have a 225 efi I figure they have a Merc.

Does this prop have the holes for the the exhaust ports? If so that could be the problem. It may have plugs in the holes causing you have these symptoms. Just a wild guess.

I would think no plugs are needed for a set up like yours. Let it breath on a 27 if you step it down to a 25 then I can see the need for the plugs.
