I just bought a 07 Tahoe. Should I buy a 4" drop hitch?

All of you who have the non variable valve timming and displacemen on demand tahoes that need power, is it a z71/ltz truck? D me a favor and look in the glove box, there is a white data plate/sticker on the glovebox door. What your looking for is the code g80 and tell me what the gt_ code is. G80 is gms factory locking diff. And any gt codei the axle gear ratio. That will gieyou a beter idea of what yur working with.
Also, if you want more pulling power, I know this sounds crazy, but supercharge it. Jut hear me out. The magnuson tvs 1900 is what the cts-v and vette' zr1 have on them. Its the most efficent system on the market. You'll lose about 1mpg all round, so long as you keep your foot out of it. And with a 3.42 gear and a 4 spd trans, you will have the power to pull hills with out downshifting AND with out haveing to sacrifise any mph (as you would going from a 3.42 out to a 3.73 or 4.10).
I know a lot of guys who have done this instead of changing gears and they love it. It is. 10 to 12 hour job, and is alittle more $$$, but it is more caust effective over the long haul.
The guys with displacement on demand, sorry but your screwed. Your better off getting rid of that system. But he only way to do that with out swapping the motor is to change out the cam andother valve train componets and the soft ware in the computer to totaly delete it

The 2011 I have has variable valve timing and and the fuel management thing where it runs on 4 or 8 cylinders. All kidding aside I set the cruise on 65 and it never downshifted. The truck does seem a little weak on torque, but like I have said on other posts I am driving this truck coming from a 2010 1-ton cummins. I end up taking lots of things back and forth between the ranch and home which is a long way. I have considered the idea of swaping out for 3.73 rear and front dif ratios, but it does pretty good with what it has so I will just leave it be till I have problems or need more grunt. I just think it isnt a fair comparison all the time people saying the dodge and toyota pull so much better when they have the rear ends they do and the gm has what it has. The GM was built to be a truck for modern people. Easy on gas and will do what you need. My truck has 3,000 miles on it and about half are with a trailer and that is how the miles on it will continue to add up.
matt Tamale lives in a whole different world from us northerners and easterners. Try towing on 281 between Evant and Lampasas and you will be downshifting. Depending on the vehicle you might be downshifting with nothing behind you. Our hills are just bumps in the road compared to down there.
