The man who didn't make it was Tommy Cooke. I don't know the survivors name.

Prayers sent, so sad to hear. May God be with the families during this time of sorrow.

A guy I work with fishes with the one that survived and said he always wears his lifejacket. He wasn't sure about the nephew.

I live on Palestine and the Severe Wind came up in a hurry that night. In my house I was concerned how fast and windy it got!!

Fishing is not a matter of life or death,
it's much more important than that!

Mike Ammons was the survivors name. In the interview he gave on TV he said he was very cold since all he was wearing was a short sleeve shirt AND a PFD. He speculated that his nephew may have had a heart attack. Bittersweet recovery.

Instead of assuming they were being careless and expecting survival we should pray for the survivor and family. Imagine losing a fishing buddy like that. It could happen to any of us at any time prepared or not.

I've made every bone-headed move you can make on a lake, including this one. But life has become more precious and I listen to the weather now before heading to the water with a boat. The forecasters were for sure predicting high winds; there were lake advisory warnings in effect that day. In 2011 there's really no excuse for going out, and certainly not staying out, in this kind of weather.
