5501C3, the old stand by. They catch fish just like any overly expensive reel.

Toss up between the SX and the Winch for me. I no longer own any of the old round ones I had when I was a kid but I drilled many a fish on them back in the 80's.

I really don't know of any that are bad but for the money I have 4Revo sx's and they serve me quite well. Never ever had trouble with any of them. I actually have an old 2500 mini silver and a couple reds. Also have a gold model 5500 that I'm gonna have reworked. My dad used it 20 yrs. ago.

Thanks for info guys. I also wanted to clarify that I will be switching out all my reels. So I doubt I will spend $300 to $400 per reel. If I did I would be on the news as the next victim of domestic violence. Lol

What ever you do don't get a black,blue,or silvermax. The level winds are trash anyone who fishes more than once or twice a week and has used one will tell you they are trash.

Hey, I would go on Ebay and search for some old 5500C's. I had a ball when I did that for my 50mg's...just almost couldn't turn the habit off...wound up with nine reels off Ebay...BIG credit charge that month..but it sure was fun. I still have the reels and send them to a Shimano tech that's gone into business for himself and keep them in shape.
