I saw Academy is no longer going to carry the 9.9hp 4stroke outboard. They have it on sale for around $1,400. I am looking for one for my 15' jon boat.
Anyone have opinions about this motor? Or why they are no longer carrying it?
I think that is a good deal - especially for a 4stroke. Am I wrong?

They are good motors and that is a good price. My only concern is that this motor will be too small for your 15' boat, but I guess that depends on what you are planning to be doing with the boat. If you plan to go across open water while fishing, I would want something in the 20-25 HP range.

Not enough ummpphh for that 15' boat in my opinion. I'd spend a little more and get the bigger motor. You'll be glad you did in the long run. Been there, done that. Good price though!
