I finished 4 spots out of the regional and wasn't accepted to go. Well the director said people always drop out so hang tight and he bets i will go. Just now they called me to fish the regional at lake Dardanelle. I am in lake worth working and couldn't possibly make a 11 hour drive tonight and still fish!! Why couldn't they set a promise date that people must answer by in order to fish or at least the morning before make their calls to give a man a chance to go. That is the one tournament i really wanted to attend and i had the chance but because of the drive and lack of planning on somebodies part i have to stay at work. Sorry for the rant im just really let down and discouraged with the way this all happened.

If i left now from lake worth and went home to Marietta, Ok got my rods, my tackle bag, fill the truck up with gas and leave town it would be 11pm then its an 8hr drive to the lake.

I hope nobody took this the wrong way. I was not trying to bash or degrade the FLW name i was just disappointed with everything and needed to vent. I spoke to my boss last night and he said that there was no way he could let me go on that short of a notice. My relief is from southern Louisiana so i would have had to waited 6hrs for him to get here. The drilling rig needs a babysitter so i would've had to stay until my relief arrived. It was not meant to be is the only way i can look at it.

so whats the problem??? if you were serious about it, you woulda prepared and been sitting on standby... the director gave you fair warning.

Just leave from there. How much money would you spend on gas gong back home then getting you as close as you are now. i might have missed it but i read it as if you were a Co-Angler. go to bass pro or Academy sports buy 3 or 4 inexpensive rods one for worm/jig/swim bait/ frog, one for crankbait/rattle trap, 1 spinning shaky head/wacky, one top water/spinner bait. Find out what they are biting and spend another couple bucks on plastics and bait. How bad do you want to go? if its 6 hours back home thats already $100 i gas if not more.

Just another thought...the timing does suck.

That's the way it is when you work for the public wish i had money and was younger would have fished for living. but it was not in the plans hold your head up and at least you got close keep fishing brother with us older guys and yes it may have not been the plan only God knows may have saved your life look on the bright side and keep setting the hooks I could not go and compete at the pro-am on lake falcon a couple weeks ago and got an invitation from one of the best Ex-Fishing guides and Cast Director oh well maybe next year hang in there and yes venting is allright.
