Got the SX200 {2001} in July. 200 hp Yamaha. This is my first boat ever, and I love it!

How fast can you guys get the ZX200 to go with two guys and tackle?
I've been looking at one for a while but was wondering what kind of juice it had compared to bigger models that handle handle bigger outboards.... I also turn this speed at max RPM around 5900 RPM. According to Lee from Yamaha my year engine is considered a hot rod engine as it's almost illegal for the size of the boat. He told me it's pushing around 222 HP. Don't make me a liar though cause I'm not a mechanic nor a Tim Allen wannabe

I have a 2010 zx200 I love it. I have had a few problems I will let you know about. I have a soft spot in the floor by the passanger console. I have contacted the factory and they have been extremely helpfull. They told me to finnish up fishing for the year and bring it to them for evaluation and they would fix it. I have also had a minor problem with my live wells filling on the initial fill up. That might be more operator error. I would highly recomend a zx200.

I own a 2010 zx200 and love it.
Pros: 1. Extremely stable fishing platform. I have had 6' 4" 275lb guys fishing on the back of the boat, and forgot they were back there. 2. Tons of storage for the size of boat. My wife hates that part, cause I keep finding room for the stuff I buy. 3. I can maneuver this boat very well in tight places while fishing. It's not too big. 4. You can run nearly full speed and turn on a dime. Even co-anglers notice how it turns like it's on rails. 5. The maximum width of the boat presents itself near the front. This is important because when you are trying to navigate between tree trunks, it's easy to see if your going to make it....fishermen know what I'm trying to say. 6. I like the 'no handle' design of the storage compartments. I used to catch my toes on my old ranger's grab handles on the storage compartments. Not the case with Skeeter's.
The trailer has this bed liner type covering, which keeps rocks and debris from dinging it up.
Cons: 1. With the 'sponsons' on the back, it can be a bugger to maneuver at the dock. The darn thing doesn't turn sharply going backwards. 2. Although it does handle rough water, REALLY rough water is better handled by a Ranger or Champion. (I think that's a trade off when it comes to fishability) but with that said, I have yet to get wet. 3. Basscat's are slightly faster at the same length of boat. But we're talking 67 mph vs. a true 70mph....in my mind, so what.
The boat is a bit longer on the trailer then the competitors, which makes it harder to fit in a garage. I had the dealer push the boat up on the trailer 3" at time of purchase.
Conclusion: I am about as thrilled with my Skeeter as any purchase I have ever made. I really think Skeeter has worked hard to manufacture a solid boat that is well designed. Good luck in your decision.
