Hey y'all, has anyone ever fished around the spillway at lake Dunlap from the shore? I've heard You can fish both above and below the dam from the bank, but I was hopin some of y'all could clarify that for me, also has anyone ever fished over by Camp Comal Park, by the softball fields? It looks like it would be a decent spot, but ive never tried it.
Any help would be great!

Tight lines, and God Bless

I assume you are talking about bank fishing. I have fished it extensively by boat. I checked out Comal Park. Could not find any legal access to the river. I thought it was a park. And it is, a baseball park!!!

I could be wrong though. Did you see it in person by driving through it?

I'm not sure there is any public water to bank fish from aside from the launch under 35. And there is no place on the bank that I know of to fish from near the softball fields. Even if you did find a person to let you own, that area is covered with brush.

Thanks guys, that's kinda what I figured, have y'all ever fished the area under 35? I've only ever gone down there to play with my fly rod...ive fished canyon, and the guadalupe pretty extensively, but I've never really fished Dunlap, I may have to take the kayak out there sometime soon

You can fish the spillway area. You can park by the Faust St bridge(the walking one) and walk down the path beside it. There is plenty of bankspace there. The water is pretty shallow especially with the lake down but there is a couple of deeper holes. You can also fish a little ways above the spillway. I have caught plenty of sunfish there and a couple nice bass, but I mostly fish it for sunfish.
