I have had one difficult problem. I was checking out my controls doing maintance on my boat. tightening the cables up and my controls locked into neutral. I talked to a boat repair place which will go un-named. And they told me that it was the cam that was out in the controls. And was going to cost 2 hours to take it apart and replace the thing. Will I got out there and took it apart in about 3 minutes and found that the ball baring on the spring was caught under the cam. I was able to put things back right and the controls work as if brand new. Further testing and doing other things made the same problem happen.

Was wondering if just replacing the cam would fix this or do I have another problem that is unforseen?

Thanks the for the Feed Back

no actual experience with that...but I'd replace the spring...just seems more likely to wear out...

I think I have a control box hooked to an old 70 HP OMC around that year. I took the whole thing off a boat that sunk in CC Lake last year as a spare time project. If, for some reason you cant get it working, email me. I'll sell the whole engine with the controls cheaper than a new control box, just to get it out of my mini storage. I drive from Shreveport to CC Lake nearly every week, so if you're close to I-20, it would be easy for us to hook up.

Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.
