I have a 95 Mercury XR6 (150HP)and I wanted to know if I have an electrical problem (or the start of one that may get worse)

I rencently disconnected my starting battery to give it a charge after I left my lights on by accident. When I disconnected the + battery lead ( I know to disconnect the negative lead first....) and I got a small spark. The accessory leads were already disconnected, so I know that it was coming from the outbord.

I measured the draw at about 6 milliamps and narrowed it down to the leads coming off one of the 2 voltage regulators.

Is this normal or should I be concerned about this stray current draw other than it may slowly drain my battery?

Thanks,

Matt

Dribble..... That slight spark is normal the voltage regulators stay energized and there is not enough draw there to cause a problem unless it sits for 3 or 4 months without being charged could be a problem but this normal....OPTI

Opti,

Thanks for the quick response. I'm glad to know that it's not a big deal. I installed a battery switch just in case.

Thanks again.
