The fishing blog has become quite ubiquitous.
The best advice I can give you is to focus on original and interesting content. Don't rehash old information or techniques that are found on a thousand other websites.
Keeping things personal is, in my opinion, a really good habit. Not only will it add a great deal of charm to your writings, but it will inherently force you to focus on original concepts. We all have different ways of using the same techniques, and these personal touches make for some really great and original content.
Running a successful blog is all about content.
