Since the DI image is produced by the SI crystals, does your SI view look OK?

The DI view has a Sensitivity setting of its own, have you tried adjusting that?

You must have the 700 series SI unit.

You may need to adjust the "contrast" setting.

Was it the LSS-1 transducer that you replaced? Might I ask where you found the replacement?

Lets start over with finding the solution.
Exactly what brand of sonar unit do you have?
The termonology for both companies are being used in this thread.
Side Imaging is a Humminbird product.
Down Scan is a Lowrance product.

I just assumed you had a Humminbird 798 since a broken transducer bracket for the Compact SI transducer is discussed frequently.

Grout-scout, the components are different and not interchangeable so either the brand name/unit model number has to be mentioned or the correct patented terminology used.
The original post was asking about a possible transducer issue "my si xducer broke off". The SI and SS transducers are VERY different.

A guess is that the wire inside the transducer cable that has the Down Scan crystal connection may be damaged if your symptoms involve the same unit settings before and after the bracket broke. The best way to trouble shoot is hook up another HDS to your setup to see if the transducer is the issue or the HDS is the issue.
