I live in central TX but fish alot of saltwater Bays and intercoastal down at the coast. I fish some fresh water lakes for bass also. Here is my setup, does anyone see anything wrong with this.......any room for improvement?

saltwater bays / flats - Shimano Cardiff 100 baitcaster with a 7 foot medium action All Star rod w/ 17 lb test.

Bass - Shimano Curado 100 baitcaster with 6'6 All Star light action rod with 8 lb.

Thanks

I don't know much about Salt water rigs, but the Bass rig is excelent. The only thing that I would change would be your line, go to 15 to 20lbs, especialy this time of year. Other why's it is good.

Sounds like a nice set up to me.

I used to have a silver 67 goat with a black vinyl top. 400, his/hers shifter, man that thing was fun to drive.

The curado is an excellent choice for the reel. I guess it depends on the structure you fish for bass, but for laydowns, stumps trees large rocks etc I think I would prefer a medium action rod and 14-15 lb line. Open water fishing you probably could get by with a lighter action rod and lower pound test line.

Bass fishing - I fish Fork where a medium heavy rod is the preferred choice with 17 - 20 lb test. Depends on the size fish you are catching how much brush you may encounter.

Regards,

Bart

I use a 6'6" All Star WR1 IM6 medium heavy graphite worm rod for fishing Lake Fork.

The Cardiff is an excellent reel, the same specs as a Calcutta, and a better buy than the Curado. I would use it for both fresh and salt water fishing.

I have fished salt water bays/flats some and typically use a stronger line than you are using for those areas..

"Is there supposed to be that much water in the back of the boat?"
