My grandpa is coming down to houston next weekend and wants to go flounder and trout fishing. My dad and I are taking him down to galveston. We have the trout gear out the way, but what are some good bait for flounder? Hook and Line set-up?

There are a few differnt set ups ... however, I prefer to use a Gulf 3-4inch shad in combo with a 6/0 VMC ... hook they are not circle hooks ... but similiar ... You can set them up also on a 1/8 ounce jig head and just fish plastic ... or set them up with an 1/8 ounce Bullet weight with the same 6/0 hook .... I normally use Mud minnows because they stay alive easier and longer ... although Finger Mullet is where its at on the preferred bait ... Right now when they are running out next to seawolf park .... you should catch them with anything. GL

Well how do you guys fish for the flounder when using gulp on a 1/8 or 1/4 oz jighead. What technique? do you just throw it out and leave it or throw it out and slowly retrive,or bounce it back to you with short hops along the bottom?

Here in MS, a sugar and spice glow, or glow 3 inch gulp shrimp on a white 1/4oz jighead will outfish any other artificial or live bait when it comes to flounder. Not only that, but you get a better hook up rate, because the flounder will inhale it in the first two seconds. Unlike live bait, where they will mouth it sometimes up to 5-10 seconds. Just hop it along the bottom near any structure. The only tough part is finding the flounder. Once you find them, the catching is easy with this combo.

I have catching flounder on Clouser Minnow using spinning rod,not fly rod.
Because of health problem i can't fish in water with fly rod, fishing just on the bank with spinning rods

What color plastic/artificials do you guys use? Natural colors like white or brown or bright colors like chartreuse and pink?
