got a question??..my uncle died a few months back and he left me all his fishing stuff...one of the rods is a g-loomis imx 844c- 7foot heavy fast action-12 to 20 lb and 1/4-1oz. what would some of you guys use this rod for (what bait) im kinda thinking maybe the soft plastic swim bait maybe? thanks for any and al info!

I'd use it for punching grass or C-rigging. I have never fished swim baits so I couldn't tell you what would work with them.

Goid choices for sure!
Put some braid on 7:1:1 reel and throw some jigs! I think it may be a good frog rod

Basically anything that doesn't have trebles on it wouold work well with that rod. It's a little to heavy and fast for that, but otherwise fantastic rod.

Another trick for using a great rod for multiple applications is being able to change line. With a rod that fast and stiff you may want some stretch in your line on some applications and not in others. Get a real that you can change to spool out quick on, like a Curado, and buy an extra spool or two on e-bay. Spool one with braid, one with flouro and one with mono. Cuts expenses and the clutter in the rod locker.

i think 7 foot is a little short for flippin grass. but sounds like an awesome c rig or swim jig rod

I agree--and not a heavy enough action for punching thick grass but it is a great rod for everything else that was suggested above.
