I own a few Curado's but my friend is trying to talk me into buying a Pfluger supreme. Is that a good move?

Stick with Shimano, diawa, Abu-Garcia, and Quantam due to you will be able to get your reel serviced and parts for your reel when they break.
I had a pflueger someone gave me as a gift. At first they are alittle smoother but that does not last long. Used it five times and the anti reverse pawl went out. I went to alot of local reel repair shops after they stopped laughing they said call pflueger and good luck. Called a few repair shops over the internet one guy laughed so hard I though he was going to have a heart attack. Called Pflueger and they sent me the wrong part the first time. Then called Pflueger and emailed them again no luck or even a response this time. I had to actually get the buyer at Acadmey over reels involved in contacting Pflueger. They told the buyer at Academy they would help me. Pflueger still dropped the ball. Finally, I got fed up and traded it in on a new Shimano Citca.
Pflueger has no parts or service support and the reel I had was not even a year old and they stopped making parts for it. Pflueger is just as bad as basspro or Cabelas reels they are a throw away reel after they break.

The first Pflueger I bought is also the last Pflueger I will ever buy. My Chronarchs and Curados have given me worry free service. The only other reels that I have ever owned that never let me down were my old Ambassadeur 4600CBs and they are just too heavy to use on a regular basis any more.

Buddy had a Pfleuger Trion once. Fishing at Fork one day he cast and the sideplate fell off and into the water and the spool came out. Buddy just hand pulled lure in cut it off and took reel off of the rod and let it fly. After seeing that one a reel that wasn't more than 4 months old I won't have anything but Shimano on my rods and he doesn't either!!!

i like my pflueger president. it seems to be really smooth and i've had it bout 4 months and no complaints. i also have the gold trion and i like it also. i took back the purist i bought because i had it 3 months and it wouldn't hardly real in. when it was dry it was fine but when it got wet thats when it wouldn't hardly reel but i think the supreme will be a awsome real. i looked at it the other day at bps and and was awsome. the knew daiwa viento the one with the twitching bat looked nice also.
gotta love those pfluegers.

if you can smell saltwater and you have a "Puker" in your hand you might as well throw it away. the metal they use in those reels corrode so bad its unreal. my two reels lasted one weekend at South Padre and were junk after wards. i traded them in at BPS when they were taking old reels for the needy kids and giving out discount reciepts.

My friend just bought a Puker for $179 and the reel went back the next day. The reel worked fine at the store. The store put the line on and he went home to try it out on the rod. First time he pushed the thumb bar down it did not come up and made alot of noise. Top it off I just dealt with Pflueger on getting parts and they do not make parts for a reel that is not over a year old. Man this reel did not last for 5 trips. Wow and their $179 reel did not even make it on a fishing trip. GOOOOO PUKER also know as an overpriced Shakesphere.

Hey EtbuFisher why don't you ask Pflueger if you reel broke today do they have parts for it. They don't even keep parts for a reel that was 6 months old. I just don't want to spend money with a company that imports reels and gives no service. Way too many reel companies for the same price ranges that offer better quality made products and service their products.

I have a Flueger as well, The President, it hasn't given me any problems, Fresh water or Salt, big or small fish. Pflueger Review It has been a great reel. I don't know about looking for parts for it, because I haven't needed any yet. It does have some cosmetic wear after a year but I do fish often and I fish hard. I am tough on my equipment. But this one has held up. I can only speak for the president model. I don't know about the others. I am looking to get a Curado and I can't wait to compare the two. I hear so many good things about Shimano and I am looking forward to having a great reel either way, hopefully 2 great reels.
