In my opinion, the word "best" is always subjective. Best for what?....

Yes, GLoomis is a great rod, if you have deep pockets. I don't collect rods, and only keep what I'll use. If they don't get used, I sell them on the internet. I currently have around 14 rods/reels rigged up and ready to go at a moments notice. There is no way I could afford to do that with rods costing over $200 each. I prefer all my rods to be the same brand.

For my money, and budget, I use the Falcon Cara series. They are lightweight, comfortable and have a lifetime warranty. Falcon's customer service is second to none. I'm hearing/reading a few complaints about GLoomis warranty and return policy.

If you can afford the GLoomis, they are well worth the money, and are definitely top shelf rods.

I'm with Kelly on this one. G Loomis makes a great product, but if the question is "best for the money", I think that Falcon or St Croix Avid series are the way to go. Loomis makes top shelf products and charges top shelf prices for them. If money is no object, get the loomis. If money is the object, BPS extreme series is decent for the $$$$. Falcon/St Croix cost more but I think are worth the extra.....just my two cents.
