I have a Pflueger Solara and it has been close to a month since I have been waiting for a return Pawl from Pflueger. Sent emails, called them, and then called them again today to make sure someone is responding to me. They said they would send it out again.

I am just getting fed up due to I have called a few reel repair shops in my area, went online to three repair shops, and then emailed pflueger with no response to my email. This is really very poor service for a company whose reels price points are in some cases close to Shimano's. This is the only reel I have that is not a Shimano except for my fin-nor and I feel like throwing this thing in the garbage due to it is really hard to get parts for it.

What did you expect from the Shakespeare Corporation? I bought a Pfluger rod about 3 months ago that I had been eyeing for some time. First time I used it, it broke during norman use. I have never broken a rod! Same thing with one of their reels. I got another reel & same thing, then I realized there was no grease/oil in the worm gear. Worked fine after I greased it. It's a shape that a good names like Plueger and All Star have gone down hill since "big company" take overs.

Hey I can verify that the took Allstar into the toilet. I do have alot of IMX10'S and a costal series. I needed information on what type of tip is on the rod. No response from them. I bought a new Allstar Inspire or something to that name for $49.99 at a shop due to I needed something to go fishing with a few friends at the last minute. I think the warranty is only a year on it or maybe at the max up to three years. That sucks if I ever have to send back a broken allstar that had a lifetime warranty for a replacement I probably get a rod that only has a three year warranty.

What gets me is within the past year or two when I go to basspro during their promotional days and you see the manfacturer's reps for pflueger pushing this stuff. Then you see local mom and pop shops pushing the presidents and tritons or whatever that junk is called saying how it is better than the curado's. Now they have a reel that is $179 that they are pushing. The biggest thing when you ask anyone of the bozo's pushing this stuff if it can handle inshore fishing like a curado? No, but it is good for freshwater. How about can I get parts like a curado? Well no. Then I ask them why switch from Shimano Curado's? It is smoother. Well smoother don't cut it when it breaks quicker and no one has parts for it and pflueger gives you the run around on parts. My Shimano's are between 5 to 10 years old and I only had to replace two parts on one reel this week and it was due to my fault. I went down the street to a Shimano dealer that repairs them and got the parts for $7.50 and I repaired the reel. The whole time it took to get parts and fix the reel took me thirty minutes. Can pflueger say that.

By Quantum, Shimano, or Diawa next time. You'll get a better response from customer service.

Howdy,
I am sorry to hear of your troubles with pflueger. I am a Quantum dealer and will take the pflueger reel in trade if you are interested. Just email me for more info.
Thanks
John

Hey big John

I emailed you about the Fin-nor.

Some of the shops over here say the parts are not as easy to get as Shimano. In the spring if Quantam shows that they are in the game like Shimano and Diawa I'll probably start by trying a higher level Quantam baitcaster just to see try it. If that reel works out during the spring spawn then I probably buy 4 others. I like to keep my reels the same due to parts and not having to get use to a new reel every time you pick a rod and reel up.

Really don't need that reel replaced which I usually let friends use that stuff which is stuff I'll end up giving away or sits in a drawer with my Ambassadors which some have never been used seriously.

My friend who is a guide in Venice, LA lost everything and I gave him my Shimano reels which are tricked out, in excellent condition, and great shape. This means I have to replace 3 spinning reels and 6 baitcasters which I will replace early to mid next year. The only fishing I am doing is with him now, so I am going to wait until spring to make a move due to I will be spending around $1400 budget. I want to look at what new stuff is in the market at the boat shows in Jan and Feb before I make a move.
