 Best lubricants and grease for reels?

If someone out there is an "expert" on lube, would you let me know what to put on a Baitcaster? I have used some cheapo Zebco grease, but it does not seem to work well....and what about oils?

I use the Quantum Hot Sauce oil and grease. Removing all the factory grease and re-lubing with those will get some great results. It'll run you $6.99 each for the grease and oil at BPS. There are other products available from some of the board regulars also.

For oil, you might want to try rocket fuel yellow label. The stuff is absolutely awesome.

sure, i can tell you what we use. For grease, we use Super Lube, on drag washers we use Shimano drag grease and on bearings, we use yellow rocket oil. Remember this. Grease the gears, oil the bearings.

I know a really good catfish guide who sprays all his Abu baitcaster reels and line down with WD40. He catchs a ton of fish.

thanks mr.yates. I would stay away from the WD40 and take it easy on the hot sauce. Too much isnot good when using it. The HS makes a molecular bond and some like it and some don't. but for me for a rust inhibitor, I prefer Reel X as it has proven over the years to be the best performer.

I use Cal's 2 Speed Grease on all moving part's and on the drag system. The bearing's get Yellow Rocket Fuel.The grease seems to hold up real well in the saltwater here in LA.

Super Lube for the gears and Rocket Fuel for the bearings keeps my reels smooth.
