Well I was going to go get me a couple of Quantum Accurist II Reels this week, then I thought I might pose the question to everyone here - What, in your opinion is the best baitcasting reel out there for under $75.00?

IMHO, Daiwa Procaster 6+1 Series is awesome for the money. BPS' Extreme series seems to be a quite serviceable reel, also. http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.T...arTarget=browse

I have had a Rick CLunn (gray one) that was great till it starting making noise...after 6 months of parttime fishing. Then I got a Midas Browning and it makes noise too! I can only fish with a "left hander" so I am limited on what I can afford. I do have a Quantum Accurist 501 that has been my favorite. Let me know, about the Accurist 2. I have been waiting for it to come out, but its not available in Lefty yet. I think Shimano is calling my name? After this thread topic...Shimanos cant be beat...but they cost twice as much?

Based on the original criterion of "best baitcasting reel out there for under $75.00", in my "opinion" it would be a good used Shimano Curado. I have one that I paid $60.00 for at Canton (there were several in the 60-75.00 range)and I spent around $10.00 to have a new drag washer installed. It is a well made reel from a top manufacturer and has an excellent reputation- and all this for less than $75.00. Obviously, you will have to do a little work to find used Curados, but in my "opinion", this would be the "best" reel in that price range.

planofishman...check out John's website. The Accurist is a great reel IMO. I have one that I have fished hard. Recently I was looking for some more and found John, he will make you a good deal. I have 3 Quantum E860PT-XMs that I love, they are great but more expensive than the Accurist. Contact John, he has the Accurist I think on a combo deal and the rod is great too. if you dont mind a few scratches you can buy a used shimano calcutta on e-bay,i fish the laguna madre baffin bay area over a 100 days a year and fish my calcutta's hard all those reel mentioned are fine for light use but it takes a bullet proof reel to handle salt water ive tried lots of reel but shimano reels beat them all.
