I was planning on purchasing a 4600 c3 or c4. Which one do you guys suggest I get. The c3 cost about 53 and the c4 cost about 66. Is the extra money to get the c4 worth it. I planning on using the reels for topwaters for trout and reds. How do these reels hold up in saltwater? Did any of you guy have any problems with these reels?

I have both and they work just fine. SAlt water fishing - just rinse the reel off abd do normal maintance on it like you would any other reel.

bucu...Do you remember the Garcia 6000C? It's the "workhorse"(IMHO)of the industry in the baitcasting category. It's black reel on a chrome frame, two ball bearings (on the spool shaft) and has a clicker...a most excellent product. I imagine that something in it's class today would sell for around $89.95~. I understand there is a source for them on e-bay for $32.00 each, completely rebuilt. Might be worth checking out. Good Luck! Good Luck!

theres no difference in the 4600 c3and c4 inside but just when you clean them put oil on the bearings and grease on the gears and if you are an avid fisher person. Break down the reel and clean it every month everey two weeks if you wade fish. fresh water maybe every five or six months. if you need parts or help or repair. Call me at Mike's Fishing Reel Repait at reelrprman@houston.rr.com or 281 427 1624 also if you rinse them off w/ water after every trip stop and get a 25 cent gallon of glaicer filtered water and rinse it that way because city water has too many minerals in it. thanks Mike hope this helps.

They are both great reels. Look at the new Garcia reel named the record also.
