I was sitting here thinking how expensive tournament fishing was getting, and started to wonder how much I've really won since I started. I started looking around at the plaques on my wall and tried to remember how much I won for them. I have the envelopes from my very first win framed from a Tuesday nighter on Lake Ray Hubbard on May 13, 1997. I was 19 years old. I won $390. $220 for first, and $170 for bb. Then followed that with winning the championship in October, on Grapivine, with Tommy Climer for $680. We were both so broke if we didn't win that we wouldn't have been able to buy What a Burger on way home! All in all the best I can figure from then to now i'm at $104,000 and change. Kind of sad when you divide it out over that many years, and add in the cost of fishing!!

How much did you spend to make that $104,000?

Oh shoot there is no telling. I've had a $400+ a month boat payment pretty much ever since then lol. Thats almost 5k a year right there. Add gas in boat, gas in truck, oil, tackle it goes up from there. That doesn't even count entry fees, and a lot of hotel rooms!

Now that I think back, I got my first boat in September of 97, and it was only about $230 a month. It was the cheapest payment, and I had it until October of 2000 I think.

Man, I must be doing something very wrong. $104,000? I am up to $40 on a creek tournament about 4 years ago. Just got a new to me bass boat and as soon as I get back from Iraq IT IS ON!!!

I started fishing tournaments a couple of years ago here in our work club. The first two years I was in the money every year. This year was a reality check for me because it wasn' that great of a year. But I switched shifts and lost my partner. The one tourney we fished together this year we got first. I think he has someting to do with my success.
