How many are fishing it? Would have liked to, but couldn't work it in. Never been on it before. Here it is a pretty good lake for being out west? Grass? How low is it right now and the dangers for guys that don't know the lake?

There aren't any really dangerous places on the main lake, as everything is visible now. The creek arms are where you get in trouble. But, they're so low, everyone will be on the main lake. The trees on the main lake are sticking out of the water and can be easily seen. There are 4 islands on the main lake. One always shows up, 2 are very visible now and the other one that is still under the water is off the main channel by a couple hundred yards. If everyone that's not familiar with the lake will run the main channel when they're around those islands, they will be okay. The islands are all in the same 500 yard area. There's a ton of grass on the lake, despite it being really low.

The key to winning it will be to get two good top water hawgs first thing, off the grass bed lines and then going out on the ends of the points with a Carolina rig or jig. Punching grass will play a major role in filling out a limit. You just have to get lucky doing that and get that one big bite. Lots of 2 and 3 pounders will be caught punching the grass. When you find the perfect scrape while punching grass, hit that sucker hard and fast.

Crankbaits have always been good on rocky banks. There are a lot of rocky banks that have great drop offs against the bank. A DD22 in white, citrus shad or crawdad will get bit. The white is my favorite there.

Don't be afraid to use a super big worm either. Those fish love big baits!!!

22 pounds a day will keep you in the running. But, someone is going to hit the 27 to 28 pound mark.

Wishing everyone going a safe and fun trip.

If any of you guys fishing it let me clarify hags point on safe running. There are now 3 islands visible on the main lake. Between the middle and north one there is an extremely shallow hump it come up to a foot or so. Someone stuck a piece of PVC in it but it is only a foot out of the water. Do not cut between those islands on pad unless you are familiar. It come up very quick and there are no stickups are anything showing. It goes from 28 or 30 to 2 feet very quickly. Just be careful and good luck.

I heard it has been tough for a lot of people lately. Guarantee whoever wins wont be punching grass.

Good luck to Mike and Cliff

A buddy and I were fishing near Sandy Creek Marina last night while they were doing the registrations. They were calling out numbers, I'm not sure what for unless it was the launch order. The last number I heard was 56. So I guess there were 56 boats being registered. There could have been more register on Sat morning.
