I haven't bought any Kobe from HEB but did buy some Kobe NY strips from The Meat House. VERY good steaks, but not worth the $32 a steak, almost $45 a lb. HEB prime cuts are expensive but a much better value, excellent steaks if you're going to splurge.

HEB has some really good meat!
I've never tried any "Kobe beef" from them. Most likely, it's actually Wagyu beef. True Kobe Beef is prolly far too expensive for who they are selling it to.
I've had Wagyu and Kobe beef and it's good stuff - rich flavor and very marbeled!
If you don't like fatty ribeyes, then most cuts of Kobe style beef is not for you.

Albertsons sells choice grade beef now. Last week they had boneless strips on sale for $4.99 lb. and you can take your pick out of the meatcase instead of the prepackaged ones. I bought 4 beautiful large steaks that were a good one inch thick with no fat, etc. for about $20. Hard to beat

Target's Sutton & Dodge Choice Angus Beef is better than HEB Prime.

I'm too poor to worry about buying prime steaks, but the HEB branded Chile Rellano TV dinner is top shelf eats.
I'll wager it's the best TV dinner on the market.

Wagyu is American Kobe. That's what you'll get in the US- same cattle breed and feeding practices as in Japan but not from Japan. The grades in order are Select, Choice and Prime. Kobe isn't actually a grade, but they claim it's higher than Prime. Certified Angus (Choice) is the best quality for your money overall in my opinion, but there is no question that the flavor and degree of marbling of Kobe is the absolute best if you can justify the price. Prime at HEB when it's on sale is pretty outstanding however.
