Hey baitcaster....I like the braided for the sensitivity. It makes a huge difference. I'm still using mono for crankbaits and spinnerbaits. But I'm transistioning over to braided on everything else. Using Fluorocarbon leaders.
I'm even using braided on one of my spinning reels.

They all have their applications in my opinion. For flipping and pitching and c-rig there is no substitute for braid in my opinion. Sensitive and pure power to pull that hawg out. For cranking and spinnerbaits I prefer mono cause it has a little stretch to keep from ripping the hooks out.

If you go saltwater, watch spiderwire. IT **** unless you get the saltwater verson, which they came out with AFTER I went with the regular verson.

I have tried braided line (Power Pro) a few times and really like the way it feels. However, I hate the way it digs into itself when you hook a good fish and it takes out drag. Is there a prevention for this? (besides avoiding the bigger fish) Everytime this happens I find myself pitching my bait over and unspooling my line to the knot. Half the time when I am reeling it back on I get hung 150 yds down the water

airfob spool your reel with about a half spool of mono and then put tape over the mono and then spool with power pro, less problems with it digging in that way.

I have 2 reels spooled with Power Pro and have the same digging in problem, especially after cranking in some Reds. I would go to sling out this big rig for Reds and about half way thru it jerks to a stop and the bait goes flying off the hook. I always have a few CHOICE words when that happens!!! Thanks for the Tip Browning. I'm going to give it a try. Any other braided tips out there???

Yeah, thanks for the tip SB! I thought about doing that like backing on my fly reel...guess it will only dig into half of the spool using this method. Also, has anyone really fished enough with/without a flouro leader to notice a significant difference?

I use both. Jigs, worms, and c-rigs get my vote for Power Pro. Backing helps and if you will set your drag a bit lighter than normal you will still get the hook in them, cut down on the line digging in, and less of a chance of ripping the hook out of their mouth. Be sure you tie a Palmor knot. Clinch knots and others have a tendency of the line sliding thru the knot.
