Trying to change the impeler on a 77 115 Evirude where is the linkage under the carborators and how do I get to it, Do I have to take the carborators off or what?

that one is a tough one.

you'll need a long extension and possibly a swivel joint.

that bolt is under the bottom carb.

once loose i always used a really long pair of needle nose pliers to pull it out.

Yep! and some say its a 30 minuet do-it-yourself job. Getting it out is not normally the problem. Its getting it back in. The fuel hose is normally right in the way. And like Steve said, a 1/4in drive, long extention, 3/8 swivel socket.

I just did this on my '89 150. If you un-bolt the complete shroud that surrounds the bottom of the motor, it's a helluva lot easier to get to. It's only a few bolts and then you can drop the shroud down and actually get to the linkage. Our motors are set-up almost identical other than the powerhead, so that should work.

Oops G-Dawg I think I may have told you wrong. In my service manual it shows the shift linkage for the V4's off to the side of the power head, the linkage itself is connected to the rod with a type of carter pin. It shows to remove the pin and then push the linkage to the forward gear. That should free it up from the rod. Hope that helps!
