Finally got time to sit down for a bit Fish AKA Jerry... Once you learn to find fish on your electronics it becomes more important to try and locate "active" or "more catchable" fish. Several of my screenshots are in the chip in my boat and I can post those later I do have a few here to give you some ideas. Again most of my screenshots Im not trying to get a pic for humminbird advertisement so Im moving fast and turning. When I look for active fish they are normally relating to bait or cover/structure in ambush or feeding type positions. Fishing is a lot about trying to maximize your time. To do that you will need to pass up fish in order to get fish that should be a little easier to catch. This one is easy...fish relating to bait... Fish relating to a small ledge/rocks. Notice how they are set up right on the edge and not out away suspended. This one you can see the fish set up close to the drop...where I put the black circle is where they would most likely be if they were more suspended and not as active as where they are on the screen. Another one the same way with the black circle where you wouldnt ideally want to see the fish set up. You can see where most of them are hugging the drop in more ambush positions than suspended out away. A lot of areas I fish on Ivie around the river channel it is easy to drove over the ledges and see if the fish are up eating. They will be out suspended in that 40-45ft part of the drop or up on the drop in 20-25 hugging the ledge in more feeding positions. I have some more screenshots that are much more clear I will get and post.

I look for birds feeding in shallow water over schooling fish.... schooling bass are more prone to be in shallow water near deep water... but, it is the schooling activity that I focus on.... try to find fish running shad and birds feeding.... but that is on Whitney... other lakes may be different... but schooling fish in the middle of Lake Whitney are usually whites or stripers... schooling fish along the shore will include bass.... We call the birds "fish finders."

I appreciate you sharing your screen shots. I recently bought an 898 HD,SI,Di. I sent e-mail and called HB for an instructional video I could purchase, of screen shots as a learning tool. They said no. I've been looking in You Tube for some help. Thank you again for sharing, and explaining.

Make sure your scroll/screen speed is set close to your boat speed. I can get them real clear if I'm not moving too fast but usually I'm not too worried about pristine pics if I know what I'm looking at.
That scroll speed will be the easiest thing to check.
