I was thinkingn about purchasing a new rod for trout fishing. I have narrowed down to two companies either Castaway or Allstar. Which rod do you guys suggest I get for durability purposes?

Check out G Loomis. Not the cheapest but extremely hard to beat for value. My personal experience in bass fishing.

I think both of those rods would be just fine. I've used much cheaper ones that have no durability problems, it really depends on how you treat them. But those are both good rod companies and you shouldn't have a problem with either.

If you are going to buy the 49.95(reg.price @ academy) then either are ok.If you are looking at the 80.to 100+ then I recomend the Castaway

Check out American Rodsmith rods as well. They are around $50 and are as good as either of those other brands in my oppinion. A G-Loomis will run you about $300 or more. Thats insane!

Its pretty much a toss up between those two. Just choose the one you like best. I used to use both brands and have passed them on the the kids.
I now use other brands.

take a look at www.fishermike.com he builds a fine rod. He has rods that are the same blank as G-loomis, but half the price. He backs them for life as well.

Right now academy has the $ 49.99 american rodsmith and castaway's on sale for 29.99. Personally i like the Rodsmith's but i just recently bought a Kistler helium which IMO is the greatest rod ever built.

If you fish a lot and spend a lot of time on the water, I would at least check out a G Loomis. They are a very light and sensitive rod plus have a lifetime warranty. I have personally broken numerous $100 rods that I have had to replace in the past. A G Loomis takes care of that problem. You can purchase an IMX G Loomis rod for around $230 retail. If you look on ebay, I have purchased a new IMX for $175 shipping included. It really depends on how much you fish and what you want to put into it.

Flip a coin ! They are both $50 rod . What sucks about fishing tackle is that you will have to pay twice the price for maybe a 10% better rod or reel . The higher the price the less % of gain you get in quality .
