Haven't really spent much time throwing DD22's cause they are such a pain. Threw it some this weekend but is just plain wore me out. Any advice on a good rod and reel for this combo would be appreciated. Not looking to spend more than $300-350 for the combo. Thanks guys.

BPS Crankin Stick Med Heavy and an Abu Garcia Wench reel 3.8:1. It will be a whole lot cheaper than 300

I'm with texasbass1. Go with a BPS crankin stick; 7-7 1/2ft medium action, and Abu real and 12lb trilene and enjoy. I have that very outfit and love it. It will cost you about 100 bucks and you can use the other 200 for a guide to show you where to throw that dd22!

Thanks guys! Hey Sidewinder, if you see this give me an email as I might want to see if you have a good idea of a rod you could make for me for this type of application. Let me know what you think.

Team Skeeter, I will shoot you an email. I hope it goes through, I have been having trouble with my interenet service, but I am going to give it a shot.

I use a BPS cranking stick and a St Croix glass rod also...on the reel I use a Lews Speed Spool in the BB-1 series 4.3:1 ratio...it will make you feel better at the end of the day....

Team Skeeter,,
A good combo for that cost would be a 7' MH St. Croix Avid Crankbait rod with a Curado. With the Curado you can get either a 5.1 in the Curado 200 or get a Curado 100 and have the folks at Lake Fork convert it from a 6.2 to a 5.1 gear ratio.

A Calcutta 250 with a 7'MH St. Croix Avid Crankbait rod.... The Calcutta is 5:1 so you can hang in there longer with it.... The older I get the more I love to worm....

BPS 7' MH Crankin' Stick and a BPS Extreme reel in 5.1:1. Hard to beat. It will throw smaller cranks with ease as well.
