Quantum has a low profile reel the 1310. This design looks the same as one my brother bought over 10 years ago. Bass Pro, Academy and most Wal Mart stores still sell these reels. The price is not bad $59. Can anyone tell me why this reel is still around? Anyone out there still buy this reel? If so can they tell me why? Has the reel changed since then? Is there something I'm missing here? My guess is that the reel resembles the older Ambassadors and may have a niche following. Would love to hear your opinions on this.

I don't know about the new ones, but the old ones sucked. I'll never own another Quantum, Abu Garcia is the only way to go.

the 1310mg was known for its oversized gears, it's a winch reel so to say

Can't get parts for it. I have 2 in my shop with bad Idlers, worms and pawls and after speaking to Zebco/Quantum they said they were discontinued over 4 years ago.
They do have a following in Louisiana. I get calls all the time from my wholesale customers wanting them.
My advice is stay away and go with an Abu. Parts are available for most of their reels for the past 20+years.

I dont know about the new ones either but I have one that is one of the first reels I bought and its still going strong. I would guess it to be well over 15 years old now. The only thing wrong with it is the thumb bar broke and I cant get another one. ravenreel if you would be willing to part with one of the thumb bars I would be interested?

i have 4 of them and have had them for 8 years. havent had a bit of problems out of any of them. they are not as smooth as mid to high end reels but they have caught alot of fish for me. i use em for jiggin spoon/slab set ups, and slow presentations like wormin or live bait rigs for cats. have higher end reels for faster bait retrieves like crank and spinner.
