I have a 2001 181 and the boat will ride great in rough water. As far as parts they are universal and if you need anything go to the bbc board and ask on the Champion forum, they are great ppl.

Stratos has bought out Champion and is making the boat, I think it's called a Stratos Elite.

As long as the compression checks out "OK" with that motor, I wouldn't worry about that OMC engine. I've had 2 OMC 175 HP (1992 and 1995)on my last 2 boats, and they are great engines. Don't turn them over 5800 RPM's are you will be fine. I had the VRO Pump replaced in my first one when it was 8 years old ($600). I'm currently running a 1992 Fast Strike 175 HP on my Pantera II, and it has 345 hours on it. It runs great and is very dependable. It does like the fuel though. An average all day fishing trip, I normally use about 10-12 gallons as long as I'm not running wide open.
