Hi. Just moved to Texas (Dallas) and I want to fish the Galveston area November 23-27. How is the fishing in late November? I'll be mainly surf and jetty fishing, but I also would do 2 party boat trips if reports are good.
Please give me advice on where to fish and what kind of tackle to bring. Should I expect flounder, reds, or trout? Is it usually still decent fishing? If not, I may just head north and trout fish instead. I'm originally from Michigan, but I spent 4 years in NYC so I have surf fishing tackle. Should I be bringing small spinning set-ups for slinging artificials or big bait set-ups to launch 6-8oz. and cut bait? Please PM me if that is what you prefer.
I can't afford a private charter, but I would consider a "6 pack" open boat type deal if that is available. Thanks!

fishing is o.k. , depending on wind strength and direction .i would fish the beachfront piers with live shrimp ,peeled fresh dead , and maybe cut bait . beachfront has sandbars and guts , water is shallow then gets deeper , then not so deep then deeper , try to fish the deeper parts . waves dont break in deeper water . get a map , go down eight mile road , sportsman rd , fish the same baits or throw spoons . expect whiting , croaker , maybe sand or speck trout . i use 6 - 7 ft medium spinning outfits 14 - 20 pnd line . their may be some bull reds 15 - 25 pnd fish , so a big rod set up with a chunk of mullet will handle that . hope this helps , and good luck .
you can't show them the light if you keep them covered in hate .

It all depends on the air/water temp and wind. If its perfect, surf and jetty fishing can be good, catching reds, maybe trout, spanish macks, whiting, croaker, etc. If the weather is bad, try to fish some bays are canals.you may get some flounder there, etc. I use 6 foot rods, with ambasador reels with 20lb spider wire with leaders, and ive handeld some big fish with it. You never know about what you will catch here. The other day i was fishing for some reds with artificial, and a guy about 30 yards down landed a 4 1/2 blacktip shark.
