They never want to give us the big lakes like Bend/Rayburn. Looks like I'm going to break down and buy them.

Bought the Hot Spots Elite chip today. Had one of the older version of Navionics and was thinking about upgrading. There are enough differences in the 2 to have both based on the lake you are on. For the Lakes I fish the Hot Spots Elite is better.

I have Secure Digital (SD) cards made by Sandisk, PQI, Lexar, and Kingmax. They all work in my units. The Secure Digital cards are available in larger storage sizes than the MMC cards. If you don't have Mapcreate and expect that you will not be loading large maps, a 32MB or 64MB card should be large enough. You can get them at Fry's, Best Buy or anywhere that handles computers. Get the largest size that you want to pay for. You don't need a fast card 45X or 60X because the unit can't take advantage of the speed. http://shop3.outpost.com/category/Outpos...Secure+Digital/ http://shop3.outpost.com/product/3631475?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Some of the Enhanced lake maps are free to download, some are only available if you buy the FHS Elite chip . The chip will also include exclusive Fishing Hot Spots maps providing even greater lake details (more detailed contours, pre-GPS'd ramps and such, structure, lake facts, etc.) that are only available on-chip. --Casey

If I download one of the free maps and put it on my SD card and place it into my LCX will it display the map or do I need to buy something else to make it work. Also there are several available preloaded maps, which is best?

If you download a map and put it on a memory card that will work in the unit and you place the card in the card tray on the unit you must select which card you want to read from.Read the owners manual, they are online at the lowrance website. Also there is an emulator that you can download to your PC that will help you learn the menus. I like the pre-loaded maps.I hate the MapCreate Software and maps. They suck. Get the Hot Spots Elite chip.It will work in your X-15. There are no stupid questions, so ask on. P.S. Sure could have used an enhanced lake map of Texoma on Friday.

I Agree! They are better than the default maps in the Lowrance but nothing like the enhancd maps! Plus you cant save the quick maps to edit them and add waypoints etc.
I wish I had of gotten the Fishing Hot Spots enhanced maps instead of the Map Create CD's.
I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!
