thats insane!! yall just using bread balls for bait?? Yup. Owner Ultra Sharp size 4 trebels or size 2 trebels (big ones)and a half slice of fresh white bread every time. I've always had great luck fishing plain white bread in community ponds because my theory is the catfish get used to eating the left over that is available when people feed the ducks. It's outcaught traditional catfish baits in those locations hands down. I fish big live baits otherwise like 4-5" sunfish. Unrelated but I always catch and release in community lakes so the fish live to fight another day and encourage everyone else to do the same.

Man, I saw your last post and now this one and I've been jealous. I've been frequenting a local community pond that has been just jumping with cats since Mar. Taken friends a few times and have probably nailed 5-8 5+ pounders, with a best of a 10.25, in maybe 40 trips this year. I know there have to be some monsters in there. I stopped on the way home from work today to try the bread; usually I have luck with nightcrawlers. Anyways, I had the craziest day. Only caught one cat, but it was by far the biggest I've ever caught; my scale is totally jacked and it kept weighing 3.5 pounds; threw it back. Also landed the biggest turtle I've ever seen in a pond. There were another two guys fishing at that point and one of the guys had a scale; was 26 pounds. Looked like a pizza; thought I was stuck for the longest time. Didn't get a pic; that thing bailed like nothing after I caught the hook out of its mouth. It was a treble I couldn't yank, so I got a good grip and cut off the barb about halfway up. Thanks for sharing; I know a lot of people don't like to, but it made one fisherman's week. I suck at posing fish, but I'm 5'9", 230 (beefy) for comparison.

I've noticed that at one of the lakes I frequent that I seem to catch a bunch of massive softshells on bread also, I'm talking steering wheel sized ones easily in the 15-20lb range. guess im giving some breadballs a try tonight! Did yall end up doing any good other then that carp?

It was a softshell; absolute monster. I tossed out to the middle of the pond, and within maybe 30 seconds, my line went tight for just a second, then really slack. I see a lot of smaller ones in the trees by the bank, but nothing like that ever before.
