My fellow catfisherman. I need some advice on winter catfishing, I really never tried it as such, the only winter catfishing I've done has been in the past at Squaw Creek and of coarse this is a power plant lake! So, I'm going to try it this winter Lord willing on a normal lake. The main target of coarse will be Bluecats. The question goes as follows. For Blues in the winter do you drift fish for them as in the summer time? Or do you fish for them in a baited hole? Or do you fish for them amongst stripers and balled up bait fish?

I put out jug lines, then fish r&r in deep water for about an hour or so unless I'm fishing crappie near docks then go back to check my, ahem, jugs. usually do well on jug lines.

They don't care too much about the soured grain...etc. As water cools the blues will be following hte boat to deeper water. Follow the bait yourself. Go the evening before your tirp and catch bait (or morning of) Get you about 1/2 gallon of bait and cut it up into 1" - 2" chunks and use a snelled 7/0 or 8/0 circle hook. anchor up on good marked bait w/ as many rods as you own. Make sure you have good rod holders because if that big one hits it it's gonna destory it.
