So, you feel something "different", do you set the hook? Knowing that your buddy in the back will punish you verbally for not knowing the difference between a stick and a fish, do you set the hook at the first "different" feel, just in case?
Also, if you set the hook and it's not a fish (and you don't get hung up), do you shut down any fish hanging around by the false hook set?
Just wondering.......
PM me to let me know how it was!

Always set the hook! Sometimes when you move the bait fast it will trigger a bite.

if im throwing a jig and miss the bite i will just leave it sitting and sometimes the fish will come back to pick it up. i dont do these with texas rigs because i dont know if the baits wadded up on the bend of the hook. it also works on cranks...as far as worrying about what your buddy will say...who cares lol.

If it feels different set the hook, if you miss you miss. Always put it back in that spot (a couple times) if needed. One thing I do is quickly add scent and then drop it back in there too.
Tell your buddy he is in the back for a reason....

HOOK SETS ARE FREE, almost. Depends on if you hang up and have to break off. No it will not shut down other fish hanging around. How you ever going to learn to know the difference between a bite and a stick if you don't swing?
Especially if you're fishing a jig. half the fish I catch on jigs inhale the bait and just sit there. Sometimes you feel nothing except your jig stopping after falling 5 feet in eight feet of water. Lost contact with the bait, so to speak. Sometimes it just feels kinda mushy, and sometimes you'll notice your line slowly moving right, left or away.
SET THE HOOK!

SET THE HOOK! Truth! I once was getting a very bad back lash out. Took me a few minutes as a matter of fact. Got it done and reeled in a fish! I had to apply some catch n release to him because it was not easy getting it out of his mouth. He was a smaller guy so not sure he could have passed it through. They hang on to em!

Two of my largest five bass including the biggest, I never felt the bite. One on a jig and one on a lizard. Repeated casts to the same area and my bait just quit falling (and I knew it wasn't on bottom yet). SET THE HOOK!
