Some More GREAT NEWS..........................

As you know, the City of Austin has been our hosts for the past 11 years.... as they have done in previous years, The Mayor of the City has Proclaimed CARP ANGLING DAYS for the CARP ANGLERS GROUP......we are so grateful for their interest in our Annual event. Please click on the picture to read the wording.......Thank you Mr. Mayor, and Gail Chavez, for making this possible.:D

Where is this picture link you speak of Rick? I'm really interested to know exactly what this means for carp anglers. Is this a special dispensation that explicitly gives sanction to anglers just for the days of the tournament, where they can fish certain pegs without harassment (i.e., the issues both days at Redbud last year)?

Just genuinely wondering what this entails...

Never mind, found it on CAG. Seems to be a ceremonial thing more than anything, very cool nonetheless. Kudos guys. cheers

The ATC used to be the premier tournament. People used to come from other countries to fish it. I don't know about these changes Neil talks about. I think if it's not broken don't fix it.

That is the problem. The tournament stayed the same but other things changed. A lot of the fish were swept down the river during the 2007 flood, not to mention the untold numbers fish that were killed by bowfishermen since it's location went public. And then there's the recent changes within the CAG, ATC prize support problems and the fact that you can't even camp overnight.

Don't get me wrong, Town Lake will always be legendary among Texas carpers but it is a mere shadow of it's former glory days. I hope that the idea of finding new swims like Town Lake will inspire new and upcoming carp anglers in Texas to go out and discover the next "Town Lake". We just need to step out of our comfort zone and pioneer new and exciting swims. Blanking is not always a bad thing. laugh

To be a bad thing.

Not everyone wants a couple or several sleepless nights in a row; I like the ATC format the way it is.
You can always pitch a tent at Emma Long if you prefer to camp vs. sleeping in a motel.
There is plenty of room for different formats of fishing tournaments. That's one of the reasons I'm excited about the WCC tourneys being planned. Variety! The carp of life! wink

The way the tournament is run has nothing to do with the fish being there or not. confusedHave you fished the ATC before?tell me what you think needs to be changed. What problems do you see with the prize support?the reason you cant camp there has always been known and its called from the city. You dont think numerous people have asked about doing a overnight tourney there before. We have all checked with the city and always get the same answers.
