10 inch power worm with braid texas-rigged always worked for me. I like the jig a lot too, I just felt like the worm came through the grass easier and I got more bites on it.

First, tell us where the hydrilla is matted!
If it's on the northeast bank once you get out of the marina on XXX XXXX, I've fished that stuff along with everybody else and haven't gotten one single bite yet!

alton ive caught about 10 out of all that grass on XXX XXXX just looking for some ideas to try out there.

You will need a stout rod and I would go with at least a 7-6ft in length, 50# braid or bigger, 3/4-1 oz tungsten weight and a 5 some type of soft plastic creature, craw or paddle tail worm. Peg the weight and punch the grass.
Another option would be to punch the grass with a HEAVY jig--the bomb by Black Angel jigs or the All Terrain grass jig would be the two jigs I would choose.

-Alton My wife and I have caught them with a frog over the top and dropshot on the edges. Haven't tried punching it yet...

Get you a worm or other lure,cast beside of the grass in the open water.The bass are at the grass edge just waiting for something stupid to swim by.
