I want to upgrade my paddle but I like to put my hands on it first. BP and academy don't have what I'm looking for. Where is another place in DFW that has a good selection of paddles?

High Trails Canoe in Garland has some higher end stuff on the shelf and will order to suit.

Not sure on which paddle but wanted to look at a better selection than carlise magic. Leaning toward the Werner Skagit carbon but I would like to see how it feels. Might even go a little higher if it feels right but I dont want to spend $400+ either. Can't have a paddle worth more than my yak.

Can't have a paddle worth more than my yak. I have the Werner Skagit Carbon, bent shaft 230 CM, good all around paddle the only knock I have on it is its blade shape doesn't work well for me in current. It is fantastic for low angle paddling and flat water but the longer narrower blade doesn't work as well as I would like for steering a boat in current or moving it cross current. I will probably get one of the higher dollar ones with foam core to replace it for those situations. High Trails ordered it the way I wanted it and it was 250ish + tax with the bent shaft.

Got an email that REI has 20% off through the 16th on regular priced items for coop members.
This might be the weirdest, most pointless post ever. I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering fishing

sTODDh,
I forgot to mention, put one in your hands live before you order anything, the Werner bent shaft 'regular' handle size is a pretty large diameter. I have rather large hands and the bent shaft 'small' diameter is a much more comfortable grip.

Thanks for all the replies. Bert, Thanks I did see that about the handles and wondered what the small diameter was. I like the idea if getting it with the bent shaft. Didn't know they could do that.

It gives you a more natural wrist position that reduces fatigue on the elbows and shoulders. If you want to meet up and give my Werner a go let me know and we can try to put something together.
