Want to see how many folks are going to fish the Texas Pro/Am as boater or non-boater?

We've decided to OPEN the tournament to any boater and non-boater/co-anglers interested.

Entry Fee: $150 per angler

Registration: NOON to 9 PM Friday, Oct. 28th at Zapata County Pavilion on US 83 right in town

Draw Format: Everyone will fish with the same partner both days

Payback: 90% of entries taken, will be paid back; 100 boats equals 1st Place - $10,000.00 with 20 total places paid

Thanks, I got five more calls today from guys who want to be boaters. It looks like the Champs tournament, got the jones going. Catching giant bass is addictive!!!

What is your ratio of boaters and no-boaters already signed up? I want to go as a non boater, but 8 hours & hotel is a lot of expense to have not enough boaters and have to return home.

Is there a list I can get on for non-boater/co-anglers interested?

If I didn't have to work I would be there! Only cost another $150 each to fish the best lake in the country right now and a chance at a fish of a lifetime and possibly some extra cash in your pocket for the ride home! Doesn't get any better than that, oh wait, and a chance to fish with some of the best fisherman in the state! That will usually cost you $400 for the day and no payback. Heck, I may have to quit my job now after writing this, I convinced myself.

We've been pushing this tournament for four months. Gotten a lot of interest and phone calls. Most everyone fishing as a boater are signing up at the Friday registration.

We've taken $20 deposits from over 20 co-anglers who wanted to reserve a drawing position from the Pros/boaters. It's OPEN to anyone who wants to come in and fish at this point.

It's still fishing and it's going to be a blast. No sense in holding out for something better; I don't think it could be any better!

I know you are getting close, but wanted to give you a word of caution, after seeing the results last weekend I imagine you will be crazy busy with the fish management side of things. I hope you have a staff of people to get weighed in for every angler quickly, a bunch of oxygenated pre-weigh tanks, a swimming pool sized holding tank and a couple of release boats for the amount of fish you are getting ready to see. I know when we were there fishing Champs they were working a full time staff for fish care, a bunch of volunteers running fish, several guys on the tank needling fish, their very big holding trailer, temp controls and medicated water and a big release boat shuttling fish back to the mid lake to give them every opportunity to survive. They had like 6500lbs of fish and that was with just one limit per boat. With a full field and two limits per boat (if you can even jam that much in the livewells) fish care will need serious attention.

I would hate to see best bass lake in the country with the shorline littered with giant green fish. I am curious to know what set up you have planned because very few have the staff and processes to handle FOUR or FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS of fish. thank for being a steward of the fish we all love to catch. Good luck with the tourney, but please plan for chaos.

There is not going to be 2 limits per boat. It is a team event.
However, I do see your point and agree that the fishery needs to be taken care of.

The teams are a random draw correct?
