I have previously only purchased rods available at Bass Pro Shops. I know that some folks won't have anything but custom rods. I am considering purchasing a few new rods and would appreciate any and ALL opinions. I am not talking about specific lengths, size, etc. (yet). First I need some general knowledge and hopefully some names of custom rod makers.

Rock, take a look at this link, and it will give you something to look at and think about.
And you can always give me a call after you have read the article.

Rockfish,
Kit is right on with pointing you to that link, I was gonna do the same thing.
To me there is no comparison between a factory rod and a custom. The immediate difference you will notice is the weight. We use better components and place these better components in the right places on the rod, as oppossed to a factory where they want to get as many rods built as possible in a short amount of time so they are not going to possibilly take the time with your rod like we will.
I build rods also so maybe I'm biased but like I said there is no comaparison. Whether its mine, Kits, or someone elses there will be advantages to a custom.
Good luck and let me know if I can help,
Noel

Rockfish29....
You are trying to compare Apples to Oranges !! Regardless who you buy your custom rod from, there is just no comparison between the two.
I also agree with Kit in pointing you in the right direction !!
And, Noel, summed it up for you !!
Good Luck !!

Rockfish,
Depends on who you order from and their workload.

About two weeks if you ordered today. That is if I don't have a relapse of the nasty crud or what ever you want to call it. With four of us in the house I think we are passing it back and forth.
