Had some kip(calf)tail leftovers from my fly tieing days and thought they might make a good crappie jig. You be the judge.

I like the fullness of the krinkly fibers. White, chartruese and yellow will allow lots of color combos.

Kiptail is a must in the cold weather months. Nicely Done sir. I have about 40 kiptail jigs in one of the jig boxes and will use them in December thur February.

I have good news and better news. The good news is today I caught a couple dozen nice slabs on the lime/yellow jig shown above.

What's even better is my 10 year old sat down at my vise a couple nights ago and tied some unassisted jigs. He caught several slabs today on one of them. That was pretty cool.

Larry, does the kip look like bucktail when it's wet?

Not to me. It stays kinda stiff and full as far as I can tell. The crappie sure seem to like it though, that green one has fast become my new favorite.

Larry,
Those look good...
Best thing about the kip-tail is it slows the fall down, and that what the crappie seem to want in the winter months...
Nice Ty...
