Anyplace to fish besides Somerville? Never thought much about Lake Bryan when I lived here before, just doesn't seem to be alot of "clean" water to fish around here. Any ideas??

Hook-line-sinker will be your go to person for all water in Aggieland. When I lived there I liked throwing a line in at Research Park for a quick trip, nothing real big but pretty good luck. There is (or was, havent seen it in the drought) a pond behind the church on Elmo Weedon. Google Maps can be your best friend in B/CS

I had several local private lakes to fish but all (save one) have dried up completely or have died (Oxygen depletion fish-kills) Lake Bryan is a lost cause and is not managed as a fishery it's become a hangout for the jet set and isn't to friendly to fisherman anymore. Gibbons is the closest and probably holds the best potential but you really need a boat. Somerville is barren of vegetation and only one boat ramp is still open (as of last week) If you know how to fish open water structure with a fly, good luck at Somerville because that's all there is..

I hopped in Carter Creek the other day. It'd be great fun if you had a 2 weight (which I'm working on). I plan on fishing Yegua when it gets water in it again.

I do have a boat and a kayak and have fished Gibbons once or twice with little luck. We used to catch alot of whites and hybrids in Somerville back in the late 90's when I lived here before. Went to Somerville a week or so ago and saw soem schooling activity off the bank. May go back with the kayak so that I can put in where ever I want to fish some areas I oculdn't wade to.

With in about a hour drive there are Huntsville State Park and Fort Boggy State Park. In Madisonville there is Lake Madison and also there are several ponds in College Station.
