Hello everybody. This is my first time to post. I have my annual guys fishing trip to Port A coming up, and I was wondering if the mullet migration has started yet? Also, has there been any sightings or complications from a Red Tide around this area lately. Any post would be much appreciative.

Yes from what I've seen/heard there are still plenty of mullet moving. Plenty.

I'm in PortA this weekend (Oct 8-10), and the redtide is definitely in the air.

That is good to know, I was planning a trip for the end of October myself. I read about redtide and it says it poisons the fish...I am new to all this and was wondering if this means you shouldn't fish at all when there is redtide?

You should not let your dog eat any dead fish due to the red tide. Also, many people have problems breathing due to the aerosols from red tide. I would not fish the red tide.

You really can't/don't want to fish where it is. It burns your eyes, skin and lungs. From everyone I've talked to it is pretty thick right now. As of right now you can still fish the bay though no problem. I would definetely keep track of it before heading that way. My trip this weekend has been relocated because of it.

I was there this past weekend as well. Red tide was thick on PINS the whole length of the beach. By the 10th it had spread to Packery channel, mustang Island and Port A. Where it was thick you could feel it in your eyes and throat within a few minutes.
