Any one fished it? Its been raining sence about 530-6 lastnight. I'm shure that its going to have water in it for a good while. I do most of my fishing on the stock tanks on fort hood. And have heard great thing about that river, just never fished it.

I have never tried it. How have you been doing on the ponds? I thought most of them were down pretty low. When I was on Cowhouse a couple of months ago, it looked stagnant. I do most of my fishing on Belton.
Are you bank fishing or boat?

I bank it. I have had good luck on belton. Blora side to the right of the fishing pavilion. I also know on cow house, south side of the bridge, october/november time frame is when they realy start biteing good.
With the ponds on post, its realy hit or miss. I hit up clear creek and contonment b often. If you have kids, it non stop at contonement b, and there is a fiew 20 plus inches out there, but its mostly for the kids. Clear creek is stocked, but its almost over run with craw fish. And there are tons of smaller bass and sun fish for them to feed on. With the rain we had this weekend, the water level had to of come up a decent amount. I have caugh enough keepers out of clear creek in one night to have a good sized fish fry the next day.

We caught 19 at Engineer one night in the early summer. I have heard there is good action at Larned, but I haven't been out there lately. We need to get together and compare notes on Belton. I like going out to BLORA. We usually stay out there all night. I might know you and just not realize it....LOL!

You hang out with an old nav vet out there? I haven't been going out cause my car got totaled.
With the ponds on fort hood, they have been stocking with 5 to 6 lb fish. I went outto clear creek one night and landed about 13 7-8lb fish. Found out later that week they had stocked it with 175 5-6lb fish 2 days before I went out. There aren't that many people I know of that catfish blora, I think its mostly a bass, crappe, carp lake. I have been out on cow house creek and seen 6 people tag out on the limit. All averaged 10 lbs or so.

Willow, let me know when we can meet up and how much you want. And I'm dead sereous.
I've had them take my bait, then clime my line to the rod tip. When the sun goes down, get a led white light and shine it in to the water, you will see these things all over in the shallows. And they will be walking around out of the water. It realy is was to much. In about an hr ad only using a dip net, I caught about 5lbs of big eater sized mud bugs. Its almost like shopping for them. The game wardens are telling people to trap them, kill them, what ever. Cause there are just to many in there. The LMB and channels can't eat enough of them to put a dent in the population.

The soprts man center on rod and gun club loop. take tj mills till it ends. Make a left an then it will be on your right. Go to the proshop.
You need a state fishing licence, area acess pass for your self and fr the vehicle your going to drive to get to your fishing spot. And a ft hood fishing permit. Minus the state fishing licence; $15 for every thing. State licence is free (supercombo) for all active duty service members on orders (stationed) in texas. Just tell tem you have been stationed at hood for more than 6 months.
