South Wind next week on Sabine lake. I fish the North end a lot, but have never been out there with a South wind. Any Ideas or how this will affect the fishing? Like the Platforms or the mouths of the bayous?
Thanks
Brian

A south wind or SW wind is the worst wind for the lake itself. You can find protection in the bayous and the rivers and still catch plenty of fish as well as the south shoreline of the lake. South Wind next week on Sabine lake. I fish the North end a lot, but have never been out there with a South wind. Any Ideas or how this will affect the fishing? Like the Platforms or the mouths of the bayous?

Like Capt Adam says, if its really blowing you can hide out on the Neches, Bessie heights and the ICW east and west, too. Maybe the shore line tight around the Causeway reef.

Any winds, either N, E, W, or South over 10 knots on Sabine Lake is rough. I usually stay mindful of the wind directions and speed, then decide where to go due to my experiences. If your set on going out in the middle of Sabine Lake in any winds over 15 knots, sometimes 10 knots, it is going to be rough.

Been caught across the lake several times and had to make a mad dash in 3-4 foot swells. One time we were swamped by a big wave over the bow of our little boat. We lost two ice chest, including our catch, but we made it. It can get scary quick on the open lake.

Sabine can get really mean, no question. Just wait til the first northers hit.
