You won't believe this ! Thought I'd put my small boat in down at the Kayak/jetski launch this morning. When I turned the corner, there were people/ cars/ trucks lining the launch area. Fishing poles from one end to the other. This is suppose to be a "no fishing" area, but there were no signs up. I found an opening between fishing poles so I backed in & shoved my little boat into the water. Talk about a hostile crowd ! I decided to go streight out, between the fishing lines...didn't see one. Ended up with it around me, my poles & motor. Got away with only a cut hand. I stopped at the office on the way out to complain & learned that people are stealing the "no fishing" signs as fast as they can put them up. Their policy has not changed ! This is still for launching kayaks/ jetskis only & no fishing. Roger

I would have called the Game Warden and opened up a bag of popcorn.

The trouble is, they would have said " I don't see a no fishing sign". These people don't think that rules apply to them, just you & I. Roger

It doesn't matter, the office can vouch and certify they are stealing the signs. Call 'em next time and prepare for some fun.

Yep, has been a real problem these past few weekends. The folks at Thousand Trails have been pretty responsive when called. They will clear the ramp. Course it will be right back the way it was before, as soon as they leave. Give the gate a call at 302-4280 next time.

New signs are up. Fishing is prohibited in and south of the launch area.

Good luck keeping them up, Mr. Snyder. Some people just weren't raised right, I guess.

Thanks a bunch Tom. I noticed the sign poles were buried in concrete and the bolts holding the signs were welded. First class job. We kayakers really appreciate your support. Having fished Calavaras since they first opened the lake, and fishing out of a Kayak a couple of times a week for the past 5 years, I can attest to the fine job your doing. Again, thanks.
